Beauty is only one of so many things that can set us apart from the others, but there is no doubt it is among the hardest to live with. Beauty brings so many expectations that can hardly be avoided… expectations, desires and demands from the others, expectations and demands from the self… beauty can become a glass wall beyond climbing.

But take heart my friend, for that wall is glass, it can easily be cut or melted by understanding one simple thing. Many live within walls of glass formed from any of the extremes… of appearance or intelligence or sensitivity or choice. The reasons differ, but the sense of aloneness is the same, and the very act of feeling alone for whatever reason can become the thing in common to be shared, and in the sharing deminished until it is no more.

Selene, I know you understand this. For over a year I watched you and Alex reach through walls of glass to touch many, to give comfort where many did not know comfort could be had. You need not feel alone my friend, there are many who carry a genuine love for you, who understand how to take away loneliness… because you taught them how.
